Powerball is a multi-state lottery played in the United States. Starting in April of 2013 forty-five U.S. States will be participating in the Powerball Lottery. Powerball is managed by the non-profit organization Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) formed by an agreement with individual state lotteries. Powerball jackpots can be paid in lump sum cash, or as an annuity option paid in 30 graduated installments over time. Powerball drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time and can be viewed online at PowerballLive.com. The results of drawings are not official until they are audited by the accounting firm Harvey, Covington & Thomas, LLC.
